THE FLATS – The 39th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will make its 20th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this season after receiving an at-large selection to the field of 64 Monday afternoon. Georgia Tech will travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the first and second rounds, May 3-4, hosted by Vanderbilt.

No. 39 Georgia Tech (12-12, 7-7 ACC) will face No. 25 Ohio State in the first round to open the tournament on Friday at 1 p.m., while host No. 7 Vanderbilt takes on Miami (Ohio) at 3 p.m. The winners will square off on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Ohio State (19-6, 8-3 Big Ten) advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Big Ten Tournament before falling to Northwestern, 4-0. The Yellow Jackets and Buckeyes met earlier this season in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Atlanta with OSU taking the match, 4-0. Ohio State leads the all-time series against Tech, 4-3. The foes met in the 2016 NCAA Tournament in the round of 16 in Tulsa with the Buckeyes advancing with a 4-2 win.

Vanderbilt (16-7, 10-3 SEC) capped its conference run in the semifinals of the SEC Championship, falling to South Carolina. The Commodores advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoors earlier this season, ending their run to eventual champions Georgia. Last season, Vanderbilt and Tech met in the NCAA Championship semifinals with the Commodores winning, 4-2. Facing Vanderbilt in the first round will be the automatic qualifier from the MAC, Miami University (12-10, 6-1 MAC). The Redhawks claimed the MAC Championship with a 4-3 win over Akron and will be making their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance.

First- and second-round competition takes place May 3-5 at select campuses and each regional features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The Super Regionals will take place on campus sites, May 10-11, before the quarterfinalists travel to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., for the final rounds. Team quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will take place May 17-19, with singles and doubles play set for May 20-25.

Georgia Tech enters the NCAA Tournament with a 12-12 overall record after falling in the second round of the ACC Championship last week in Cary, N.C.

Last season, the Yellow Jackets made a NCAA Championship run to the semifinals, marking only the second time in program history Tech reached the final four. Tech defeated Eastern Kentucky and Winthrop at home in regional play before traveling to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Sweet 16. The Jackets topped Pepperdine and UCLA to meet Vanderbilt in the semifinals.

The NCAA singles and doubles selection announcement will be announced on Tuesday, April 30 at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
